The distance between the two cities is roughly 600 kilometres, and most long distance moves involve 6 to 8 hours of driving time once the truck is loaded.

The typical route follows:

Calgary → Banff → Golden → Revelstoke → Salmon Arm → Kelowna

It’s an incredible drive through the Rocky Mountains, but it can also present some challenges for long distance movers. Mountain passes can experience sudden weather changes, especially during winter months. Snowfall near Rogers Pass or around Golden can occasionally slow travel times.

Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5)

The fastest route and the one most commonly used for Vancouver to Kelowna moving. However, winter storms can occasionally slow travel through the mountain passes. This route is always the first choice but alternate routes may need to be used if the highway is closed down or conditions are too dangerous.

Highway 3 through Manning Park

A scenic route that is sometimes used during winter when the Coquihalla experiences heavy snowfall.

Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley

A longer route but sometimes preferred during poor weather conditions.
